Introduction to STM32 for 2nd year engineering students
25/02/2024
In this session, the mentors are Emna Ben Hadj and Amani Ben Zaied, both are 3rd year EE student. This session was aimed for a large group of second-year engineering students from EE, ME, and CS. During this session, the student mentors delved into the installation of the STM32 IDE and STLink software. They kicked off the session with a brief introduction to essential concepts such as the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), STM32 types, and configuration using CubeMX (a platform that streamlines the setup of peripherals). Emphasizing a hands-on approach, they continued with the implementation of two practical examples. The first involved turning on a LED, showcasing the application of the discussed concepts. Subsequently, we explored manipulating a LED in response to button interactions, illustrating how peripherals can be employed interactively. In conclusion, this session provided a tangible and interactive initiation to the fundamentals of STM32 development, equipping participants with practical skills crucial for their upcoming projects.
